Step 1: Community Service Proposal

What volunteer activity do you plan on participating in?
I served the community by cleaning up trash and debris in the Temescal Wash.
Where is the volunteer location?
Temescal Wash Basin, Corona, CA.
When will this activity occur?
On Saturday, October 22nd.
What will be your responsibilities?
I was given the responsibility of cleaning up trash in the surrounding area and disposing of it in an environmentally friendly and safe manner.
Who will be supervisor signing off on your volunteer hours?
Mr. Pitts!
How many hours total do you anticipate participating in this volunteer activity?
From 8:00 a.m. to 12:00, a total of four hours.
What do you hope to accomplish?
I learned a great deal from this experience. I had no idea that the Temescal Wash was filled with so much garbage! The surrounding plants were choked with debris, and the ground was fairly carpeted with wrappers and similar waste. I feel that our group was successful in clearing a vast majority of the trash, and ultimately raised environmental awareness amongst not only the members of the community, but ourselves. I feel very privileged to have participated in this unique opportunity.
Greentorch photoluminescent exit signs help the environment by using no electricity, no batteries, and last longer than other self-luminous exit signs. Gambassa's "Energy efficiency and exit signs" project curriculum teaches students how to generate income by using available utility retrofit rebate programs to replace incandescent exit signs.
