Introduction
So, have you wondered who is the one that finds out about futuristic weather forecasting? Meteorologists are the people you need to know. Becoming a meteorologist is not easy. It requires much schooling and dedication. If you are someone not capable of time and patience, this is not the right job for you. It also requires a lot of education that can be beneficial for you to both, become a meteorologist or just yourself. Your average day will start off very busy and time-consuming. Meteorologist work 24-7 all week long and even on the weekends. If you think this job is easy to come by, trust me its not. You have to be willing to put major time toward it to actually become one.
Findings
Meteorologist are scientists that study the atmosphere conditions that are happening currently on the Earth (Kundan 2011
1). Meteorologists help us plan ahead for the next day or even a week in advance with weather updates. Without meteorologist, it would make human life a bit more difficult. There are many things that a meteorologist must do for this type of occupation. One of the main priorities of being a meteorologist is to keep data and records of sudden climate changes and potential threats( Kundan 2011,
3). They also go into very detailed researching of satellite images and radars that are positioned in many locations around the world. These images can provide them with just enough information that can help them with storms in case of needed notification to any countries that will come in contact with it.

To become a meteorologist, obviously it needs plenty of college degrees in it's field. When at college, make sure to major and take physics, earth science, geography, and geophysics (Kulkarni 2010,
2). Meteorology is not an easy job to work at, it is very complicated and very education based. To become successful at such an occupation, make sure to take the right classes. First off, take the college courses necessary for it. There are also some courses that are available, but are not mandatory to become a meteorologist. These classes include basic math and a small interest in computers. Working and being a meteorologist is very based on scientific subjects. If anyone interested to become an international forecaster, it would be great to learn one or more foreign languages.
To advance in your path to become a meteorologist, there are plenty of colleges and universities to help you succeed. Attending these universities/ colleges will raise chances of majoring in classes that are required to be a meteorologist. At Ball State university, they can offer students several bachelor degrees that are critical in succeeding as a meteorologist. As stated earlier, these degrees consist of science, art, and master of science degree (White 2010
2). Many top meteorologists with years of experience have several Ph.D's and master degrees in their backgrounds (White 2010
1). As you go and proceed with these classes, be able to put much time and dedication to reach a goal. With a list of another or few colleges would help give a viewpoint of what is good for someones future career. For example, Ohio State shows students and explain how climate can change the earth and cause future storms( White 2010
3). Someone right now are probably wondering how much a college or university like these will cost yearly. As stated, it depends on what will be most influent and beneficial for a later career. Ohio's State average annual tuition is about $22,000 a year. According to statistics, colleges will be asking somewhere around $9,000 to $12,000. Four year colleges will want more tuition then a two year college, knowing that people will be attending longer. So how many colleges/ universities provide such degrees? Well, just start looking for the one that will be acceptable. Some other examples of colleges and universities that offer classes that tie up with meteorology are Arizona State University, Florida State University, and Harvard college.
With all of this hard work involved to become something people really want to be, there has to be some great money for you to make as you advance. The typical salary you would expect if you just had bachelor degree or a master would range around $35,00 to $40,000 a year. That is just with a bachelor and a master( Asma 2004
2). You would make way more with higher degrees such as a Ph.D or who you work for. Meteorologist that work for the government will most likely be expecting a higher salary. "The average salary for meteorologist that were hired by the federal government was around $75,000 in 2003"( Asma 2004
1). Now with a Ph.D, someone would expect to get a salary around $50,000. Whatever degrees that are are listed here, you are gonna find yourself getting a salary like these. Take into consideration what salary you would chose to have when you become a meteorologist.
So what does the future look like for a such an occupation? Well ,there are many things a meteorologist can do later in their quest. They can decide if they want to go into some different type of meteorology career. Not only can meteorologist can be academic or government, but can become a business meteorologist. Many business's country-wide are growing rapidly because they are hiring meteorology to help forecast weather. Restaurants, for example are using meteorologist to help them when storms can be expected and when severe climate changes occur(Markowitz 2011
2). As a result, many companies are making huge profits and so are the meteorologist that were involved. With the presence of a meteorologist in your company, that sells convenient items, will surely advertise your company. If a potential threat was notified, a company would be able to stock on items that will prove useful during this event( Markowitz 2011
3). If you chose not to go business, you can always go government or academic. Government might offer meteorologist a chance to be a newscaster in a big-time news company. This will provide forecasting for the whole nation to go on by. Obviously, if neither fit a certain goals, there's also academic which can also be good for someones career. By choosing one of the three provided types of meteorologist, they are all highly demanding and are growing fast.
There are many innovations that are being used by meteorologist are using today. One innovation that is presenting itself in meteorology is called Ou-Prime. Prime is abbreviated for "Polarimetric Radar for Innovations in Meteorology and Engineering"( Oblack 2011
1). What Ou-Prime is trying to do is create a radar system called C-band that will give meteorologist a better look at storms and climate. Currently, this new radar system is seems to be working for them and is providing with better results and data. Ou-Prime gives off electromagnetic radiation rather than a standard radar that just gave off a traditional pulse of radiation( Oblack 2011
3). With the help of this new technology, meteorologist will know the shapes and sizes of weather, as a result will improve the forecasting accuracy.
Conclusion
To become a meteorologist clearly shows the dedication and hard work you have to put in to succeed. Not only the hard work and dedication, but the options. there are many options for you to choose from and you get to pick. Most times this job can become very demanding in some fields and high in yearly salary. Depending on what type of degree you choose to major in, will determine the salary you will get.
What I see as the +'s of this occupation would include the environment. What I mean by that is you are surrounded by people that are very experienced in this field and are willing to offer any assistance that you seem to have any problems with. Besides the fact that you majored in these courses, there will be times when you need some help and I think a job like this provides plenty. The only -'s that I think would be seen from this occupation would be the time you would have to put in when you are a meteorologist. This job is complicated and very knowledge-based. Many people who dreamed of becoming a meteorologist changed their perspective once they figured how much time is involved. Another thing that I see as a -'s is the salary. With all the complications and work, it would seem they would get paid more. With everything I told you make sure your ready, because you'll have no time to spare.
