What volunteer activity do you plan on participating in?
I plan on participating in the Temescal Wash clean up event 2011
Where is the volunteer location?
It is located in Corona, CA on Auburndale Street.
When will this activity occur?
This will occur on October 22,2011 from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM
What will be your responsibilities?
It will be my responsibility to clean up the area around Temescal. This includes picking up trash and cleaning up around the water sources located there.
Who will be supervisor signing off on your volunteer hours?
The Corona Supervisors should be signing off on my Community Service hours, and Mr.Pitts will be doing the Gambassa Points.
How many hours total do you anticipate participating in this volunteer activity?
I plan on doing a total of 4 hours
What do you hope to accomplish?
I hope to just get most of the trash out of the area

Describe your volunteer activities in detail.
Heather and I arrived there at about 7:40 am. We turned in our papers (waivers), and then we were given a t-shirt to wear, gloves, and multiple bags to pick up trash. For the majority of the time, everyone was required to walk around and pick up trash to clean up the area. In a span of 4 hours, the group I went with-which included Heather Johnson, John Cook, Mihir pandaya, Daniel Penland, Shane Coleman, and Josh Inga-, ended up picking up multiple bags of trash including a full trashcan that we dug out of the ground. We found many shopping carts, and surprisingly a lot of clothes.
What were your accomplishments?
In the end, I feel like I accomplished a lot. Not only was it a great community service opportunity, it gave me the personal enjoyment of helping out the city of Corona. While picking up trash, I also got amazing exercise.
What did you learn?
I learned that places such as the area we cleaned up that day are really in need of volunteers. The amount of trash that we found there was astounding. It was sad to see all of the trash that has built up in and around the area. I also learned that many homeless people seem to reside in that area of town because there were a lot of shopping carts and almost shelter like areas built there.
