Describe your volunteer activities in detail.
Starting bright and early in the morning, I, along with mny other APES students arrived at the Temescal Canyon Wash to pick up trash and help clean up. First, we were given gloves and plastic bags to wear while we pick up trash. A supervisor told us to go into the wetland and pick up trash on the way back.
What were your accomplishments?
My friends and I were able to clean up some parts of the Temescal Wash. We picked up many plastic bags, waterbottles, and some random items like shoes and a bucket.
What did you learn?
I learned that tons of trash that is littered and not properly disposed can end up in natural places like the Temescal Wash. Also, at the end of the four hour event, I learned that that was not clearly enough time and people to completely clean out the Wash. There was so much trash, that it would take a good amount of time and effort to get the place back to normal.
Attach any videos, images, audio, files, links or other documents related to your volunteer work, such as 'before and after' images, or videos of the volunteering in action. Give clear names and descriptions to the items so as to educate about your experience.

Location
At the Temescal Wash on Rincon and Auburndale rd in Corona, California.
Other Notes
This experience was life changing. I never realized how much of an impact littering had on out environment. Although i spent four hours cleaning up, overall I had a great time picking up trash with my friends. :)

Greentorch photoluminescent exit signs help the environment by using no electricity, no batteries, and last longer than other self-luminous exit signs. Gambassa's "Energy efficiency and exit signs" project curriculum teaches students how to generate income by using available utility retrofit rebate programs to replace incandescent exit signs. Earn while you learn.
