4 hours
Describe your volunteer activities in detail.
I showed up at 8 am at the temescal wash and was briefed and what our objective was and what poisenous plants to look out for. Josh Inga and I ventured out as far as we can on both sides of the streets several times and carried several trash bags back, full of mostly plastic materials. We desposed all our gatherings in a latge waste managment bin.
What were your accomplishments?
I was able to fill six large plastic bags up with trash, as well as a shopping cart, one tire, comforter, and several soccer balls and footballs . After the fact i felt very acomplished with what i did for the enviornment. Even though it was only a dint, i look forward to doing this again.
What did you learn?
I learned many things after my volunteer work at the Temescal Wash. Im not going to lie ive litterd plastic in the environment. At the time your thinking "what will this do to the environment...its only one peice."However in reality everything gets washed away and into the wash when it rains then ends up running into our oceans harming our ecosystem, our animals, and ourselves. Its very simple to toss a little peice of plastic away, but when we dont we are only adding more pollution and degrading the earth more than it should.

Greentorch photoluminescent exit signs help the environment by using no electricity, no batteries, and last longer than other self-luminous exit signs. Gambassa's "Energy efficiency and exit signs" project curriculum teaches students how to generate income by using available utility retrofit rebate programs to replace incandescent exit signs. Earn while you learn.
