Describe your volunteer activities in detail.
I trudged through the filth of the Temescal wash, the natural beauty demolished by the gross amount of plastic bags and shopping carts, along with other foreign materials. Along with my trusty side-kick Becca Oliver, we dove into battle against the evil plastic trying to suffocate the poor defenseless trees. We removed the clinging garbage with great care as not to disturb the natural environment. After a successful clean up of the one area under siege, we returned to the base and disposed of the waste. We continued to to grapple with odd materials such as jackets and blankets clinging to the trees.
What were your accomplishments?
We successfully collected 12 bags of trash, a tire, three shopping carts, and a PVC pipe, between the two of us. We cleaned throughly two entire trees. We helped to save the world!
What did you learn?
I learned that just because you throw something away its never really goes "away". One should use recyclable shopping bags and keep shopping carts where they belong!

Awesome Day at the Temescal Wash! =D

Greentorch photoluminescent exit signs help the environment by using no electricity, no batteries, and last longer than other self-luminous exit signs. Gambassa's "Energy efficiency and exit signs" project curriculum teaches students how to generate income by using available utility retrofit rebate programs to replace incandescent exit signs. Earn while you learn.
