Meteorologists are best know for the forecasting or the predicting of the weather. Meteorologists use different tools, such as satellites, to record data from around the world. Then they use there obtained information to make predictions about the weather (Talbert 2011[1]). Meteorology, climatology, atmospheric physics, and atmospheric chemistry are in the same category of the atmospheric sciences.

Meteorology is the science of the atmosphere. Meteorology is the study of the changes in temperature, air pressure, moisture, and wind direction in the troposphere. Meteorologists are scientists who study meteorology^. Meteorologists work in government agencies, private consulting and research services, industrial enterprises, utilities, radio and television stations.It offers the opportunity of investigating the forces that shape weather and climate and how human activities can affect climate through the introduction of pollutants into the atmosphere.If you want to become a meteorologist, then there will be a heavy emphasis on study and analysis, and specialized training and a good education.

Meteorology is an ancient subject, and Aristotle is considered to be the father of meteorology. Many of his ideas were accurate, but many were not. Many, many years later, in the 1800's to be a little more precise, scientists began to realize and figure out more about the science of weather. However, this information was almost useless because this information could not be spread a-wide because it can only reach others as fast as the weather changes. But when World War 2 came, there were many technological advancements that was able to help and improve the better of understanding in meteorology. In the past couple of years, there have been many advancements in technology, such as new tools that help with observation. Meteorology is a huge help to the public. Weather meteorologist assist in build sites, such as airports, factories, and many other construction projects. (Anonymous B 2011). Weather forecasters require many people in many countries because the weather is always changing and comes from different places and has an effect somewhere else. Many things are required to be a successful meteorologist (Anonymous B 2011).

A meteorologist is a person with specialized education, using scientific principles to explain, understand, observe or forecast the earth's atmospheric phenomena and/or how the atmosphere effects the earth and life on the planet. This requires at least a four year college degree in meteorology or related sciences. A masters or even doctoral degree is often required for many of the more advanced jobs. Many meteorologists also obtain degrees in fields such as chemistry, mathematics, electrical or computer engineering, or other branches of the physical science and then become involved in studying the atmosphere.Weather professionals are critical to the successful operations of corporations, government entities and organizations worldwide. Accurate weather forecasts can save lives and equipment in military operations.

If you want to become a meteorologist, you need a few things to succeed and a few things that are required to become a good meteorologist. In order to become a meteorologist, there a few requirements, and a few expectations that need to be met. You do not need a college education to go outside, look up, and make a prediction about incoming weather. However, you do need an advanced education is needed to become a meteorologist (Carter 2011 [1]). Since meteorology involves science, you need a degree in science. You also need to have a degree in math. It would also be a good idea to have a pretty clear understanding of technology because in the field you use technology quite all of it (Carter 2011 [2]). Like every good, or famous, meteorologist, they all started off with an education. Those who are wishing to work in the field of meteorology should have an interest in collecting and analyzing data from satellite images, radar, remote sensors and weather stations.Typical research avenues include investigations of air-flows, improving computer models of short-range forecasting, monitoring variability and change, inputting data into ever-increasingly sophisticated computer programs, seasonal forecasting, ocean forecasting and climate prediction.

Meteorologists study weather conditions and prepare current and long range weather forecasts. You begin your career directing data collection and interpreting weather maps, observation data, and satellite information. As you gain leadership and forecasting skills, you will serve in positions of increasing responsibility. As a meteorologist, you also supervise enlisted weather observers. Weather observers collect information about weather and sea conditions for use by meteorologists.To become a good meteorologist you must be able to forecast the weather accurately and to apply your experience to research. To advance, meteorologists must make consistently accurate forecasts and show excellent leadership skills.Most senior meteorologists have an advanced degree in areas such as math, geophysics, astrophysics, oceanography, meteorology, and computer science.So you should focus on getting good grades in these subjects. Do as much as you can to get the good grades that are needed to become a meteorologist and to succeed in this career in the science of weather. Outstanding performance and advanced education are keys to advancement in meteorology.

Another thing to note is that there are a few different types of meteorologist occupations. There are operational and synoptic meteorologists(Harrison 2011). There are also broadcast meteorologists and research meteorologists. There are also meteorologists that are teachers and professors. As a teacher you can help others in the subject of meteorology. and being a meteorologist is almost as good as being trained to become a teacher. This is because you need to get degrees in both math and science. and possibly in computers and technology.There are also forensic meteorologists and consulting meteorologists. Finally there are climate meteorologists and archive meteorologists (Oblack 2011).

If you are wondering where you can get employed to become a meteorologist, try finding any government website or recruiting facility because the federal government is the largest employer of meteorologists(Brown June 12,2011). Meteorologists usually work airports, television  stations, and radio. 

Most meteorology officers work in weather stations or weather support units at military bases in the U.S. and overseas. Some work in global weather centers. Others work in command and control centers aboard ships at sea.So if you are not a fan of these types of environments, then I'm not sure that this is the job for you, no matter how much you like meteorology.

The salary of meteorologists has a few variations. It depends on what type of meteorologist you are. it also depends on where you work and how successful you are on the field and whom you are hired by. It also depends how much experience you have and how long you have been working (Carter 2011). The salary can range from $88,000 to $98,000 (Harrison 2011) . But like I said, it all depends on how much experience you have and how long you have been working.

So, as you can see, there are many requirements and expectations that need to be met in order to become a meteorologist. You have also learned that meteorologists are very important and that they aren't just simple weathermen just telling you today's forecast. Anyone can look up at the sky and predict what the weather is going to be like. However, not everyone can be a good, and successful meteorologist.
