In hours, how much time did you volunteer?
4 hours
Describe your volunteer activities in detail.
To help clear trash and multiple types of debris from the surrounding area with the appropriate supplies and equipment that was provided during a scavenger hunt. I also toted, heaved, and dragged many types of small discarded material, mostly plastic straws and discarded wrappers, for many yards through the sand and then placed them in the back of a large vehicle.
What were your accomplishments?
I was able to fill a large plastic bag up with trash and my team won the scavenger hunt. I additionally achieved an inner sense of being one with the environment and doing something that was crucial to the well-being and longevity of my community and the inhabitants of the oceanic community.
What did you learn?
I learned that people often disregard the suffering of the Earth's many species and continuously do not practice the idea of safe garbage disposal. In order to right their wrongs, it takes a few dozen caring individuals to come together with the goal of cleaning up various types of pollution, making their community a much better place, and living truly sustainable lifestyles, in mind. Lastly i was reminded of the catchy slogan "Only Rain Down The Storm Drain" used by the Corona Department of Water and Power, which highly influences me, and that shows how a plain and simple prerequisite that can prevent an ample amount of environmental degradation and long hard hours of community intervention.
