Which sustainability component will your lesson focus on?
The sustainability component that my lesson focused on was reliance on renewable energy and more specifically, eating healthy and eating products that were made with less corn.
What related problem/issue will you present?
I presented, with my group, the issue of the western diet and its addiction to products made with high fructose corn syrup. We also talked about how unhealthy it is to eat food with high fructose
What supporting facts characterize the problem?
Statistics and studies show that high fructose corn syrup causes many diseases, like obesity, heart disease and diabetes. Also, when looking through most foods in ones cupboards, we find that high fructose corn syrup is in more foods than one would guess.
What solution will you offer?
The solution we offered was to choose healthy foods and choose VARIETY over the same old processed foods.
What action or actions do you want people to take as a result of your lesson?
We want people to move away from foods made with high fructose corn syrup and move toward foods that are healthy.
