What have you learned about this species?
Western poison oak is found only on the Pacific Coast of the United States and of Canada. It is best known for its ability to cause an allergic rash and itching after contact. While the oil, urushiol, in the leaves cause humans a great amount of discomfort, other animals such as deer and birds are able to eat and use the plant for shelter without danger.
