Describe (in detail) what you presented on EARTH Day. Be sure to describe your "hook," your activity, and your "wrap up" in enough detail that next year's groups will be able to use it and improve upon it.
For Earth Day we presented the benifits of repurposing. Our hook was holding up old magazines and asking the students who had ever read on of these and if they knew what they were. We then asked them how many of them would want to keep a magazine around that had old information. We continued teaching the students about where their trash, especially paper, went and how it piled up in landfills. For our activity, we taught students how to make bracletes and beads out of old newspapers and plastic bags. We also taught the students how to braid the hemp for the cord of the bracelets. After the activity we asked the student recap questions and if they had any ideas on other ways to repurpose. Those who answered correctly recieved bracelets to take home.
Please describe in detail suggestions you have for improving your presentation if it were to be done in the future.
If we were to do the presentation again I would bring more tables and have more space. I would also like to recieve more time in order to do all three activities with the whole group. Lastly, I would attempt to make more bracletes to give all the students.
