Describe (in detail) what you presented on EARTH Day. Be sure to describe your "hook," your activity, and your "wrap up" in enough detail that next year's groups will be able to use it and improve upon it.
On Earth Day, I had presented to students the importance of placing all disposal wastes in the correct trashbin; recycables, compost, and soiled waste for example. Our hook first included asking kids whether or not they care about where their trash goes, and then it proceeded with a comparison of the amount of trash humans produce to the equivalence of the weight of 24 elephants. After our hook we provided students with the definitions of words that correspond to our topic, (recycling, compost, biodegradable, reuse, landfill) for example. Then with the knowledge the students had just recieved, my group introduced an activity called "trashketball." Trashketball had mainly revolved around placing certain items of trash in the corresponding baskets that we provided, and as a reward I had provided several recycled goods for the students. Lastly, our "wrap up" consisted of asking students what they have learned, and what changes they will enforce in their home after our lesson.
Please describe in detail suggestions you have for improving your presentation if it were to be done in the future.
Realistically, I do not feel as if there are any drastic changes that need to be made with this assignment, or any changes in general. Most likely if my group and I had analyzed our presentation once more, we would have included more drastic pieces of information that can be more appealing and memorable for the young students.
