Which sustainability component will your lesson focus on?
My lesson will focus on the sustainablity component of how to live sustainably. We will include the five steps of living sustainbly which being aware of valuable resources, limiting the amount of resources used, finding solutions, making trade offs, and realizing everyone can make a difference. We will also stress the point that it is crtical for humans to only use the resources that fit their needs and refrain from over using.
What related problem/issue will you present?
The problems that will be presented through this presentation will address the abuse of resources and tradgedy of the commons. We will illustrate these issues by giving examples such as the amount of fossil fuels used to import our foods and the rapid rate of killing cows and chickens to meet our consumer demand of eating fast food. Along with evidence to prove that our natural resources our being used way faster than the Earth can replenish them.
What supporting facts characterize the problem?
The problem is characterized by using fossil fuels to import food, overuse of water,and overusing other resources beyond our needs. The combination of these actions contributes to the tradgedy of the commons.
What solution will you offer?
The solution offered through this presentation is to start becoming aware and knowledgable of the five steps of living sustainably. With this knowledge gained students will be able to go out and educate the community.
What action or actions do you want people to take as a result of your lesson?
The actions I want people to take after viewing this presentation is being aware of the resources they use on a daily basis and creating ways for them and their familes to try and reduce that amount in any way possible. Also to be able to communicate to their peers and community as to why it is crtical for us to live sustainably in order to allow our future generations to have resources. It is also vital that after seeing this presentation they feel compelled to want to do something about living more sustainbly like growing a local garden or having a community compost bin.

Describe (in detail) what you presented on EARTH Day. Be sure to describe your "hook," your activity, and your "wrap up" in enough detail that next year's groups will be able to use it and improve upon it.
To allow our viewers to become engaged into our presentation we opened up with questions on how much prior knowledge they had on what living sustainbly means. Then we transitioned into informing them on certain vocabulary words that illustrated the meaning of our project. Next we had enforcement activites to make sure our audience had fully understood the knowledge being given to them. We did this buy having them split into groups and create drawings to convey what they understood the five steps of living sustainbly were. Lastly to close our presentation we had an actvitry that demonstrated an aspect of tradgedy of the commons which the kids were told to choose any amount of beads. After seeing that some children took two handfuls of the beads while others took ony one or two demonstrates the human race taking resourecs like food way beyond their own needs.
Please describe in detail suggestions you have for improving your presentation if it were to be done in the future.
To improve our presentation I would suggest that my group and I had used more visuals to show our audience our message in ways that would both interest them and better help them understand. Also provinding the audience with something to take home with as a remonder of what they learned today. For example a magnet with the five steps to living sustainably.
